New hotel and restaurant to bring almost 200 jobs to Aberdeen

A new hotel and restaurant set to open later this summer in Aberdeen is bringing 185 jobs to the local area.

The Sandman Signature Aberdeen Hotel will be home to employees from a range of hospitality roles including housekeeping, reception and concierge while Chop Grill & Bar, a premium casual restaurant, will employ people to staff its expansive kitchen, restaurant, bar area and whisky snug.

Both outlets occupy the former Robert Gordon University Building on St Andrew Street and are managed and owned by Canada-based Northland Properties, a family business which prides itself on providing the best comfort and service to guests.

Murray Todd, general manager at Sandman Signature Aberdeen Hotel, commented: “We’re very pleased to be bringing so many jobs to Aberdeen with the opening of Sandman Signature Aberdeen Hotel. This will be a great boost for the local economy as well as an exciting opportunity for many people to work in a hotel in the heart of the city centre, gain valuable experience and meet new colleagues.”

Patrick Mercer, general manager at Chop Grill & Bar, a steakhouse restaurant, added: “Our staff will help us to bring the very best hospitality to our guests.

“Chop Grill & Bar will be a place to enjoy all day dining or a catch up with friends over cocktails, with our new team at the heart of quality and service.”
