Tor-na-coille Hotel and Restaurant in Banchory has recently appointed Morag Macndoe as general manager.
Morag started her hospitality career with Copthorne Hotels In Aberdeen on graduating from RGIT in 1989 where she spent four years in food and beverage management. She then moved to Maryculter House Hotel (Macdonald Hotels) as Deputy Manager for 14 months and transferred to Waterside Inn (Macdonald Hotels) for a year before taking up her first GM post at the Atholl Hotel for a year.
It was then that she was approached to manage Norwood Hall where she remained for seven years, during which time the hotel was fully refurbished and extended.
Her career then took a slightly different direction and she began managing the catering operations at John Lewis Aberdeen. During her years twelve years there she opened the Espresso Bar and the Mall café as well as overseeing the refurbishment of the main restaurant and staff dining facilities. She fulfilled her ambition to complete the PG Dip in HR management, studying part-time while working full time at John Lewis. Her intention was always to return to the Hotel industry and when the opportunity arose, she accepted the offer of a fresh challenge.
The hotel has been fully refurbished in the last six years, with 25 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms with stunning views over the gardens and surrounding hillside. The a la carte menu is available in the lounge or restaurant giving diners the choice of a formal or more relaxed environment. The function suite can accommodate private dinners from 30 – 80 and functions with entertainment for up to 70. The hotel is in an ideal location for attracting both corporate and leisure business with its quiet country setting and free parking, while being accessible to so many attractions and facilities.
