Oil and gas service company QTEC has bolstered its operations with the appointment of Dave Newbigging to the newly established role of business manager.
His appointment will help to drive the firm’s continued expansion into overseas markets.
Aberdeen-based QTEC operates around the world providing audit and drilling fluid performance management services to oil and gas operators. The firm’s three-step service works to optimise the performance of drilling fluid systems in order to eliminate surface spills and cut operators’ costs. With operators placing a greater focus on cost-efficiency and regulators tightening environmental legislation, the firm is experiencing an increase in work overseas, particularly in North America.
Originally from Inverness, Dave has been based in Aberdeen for the past nine years, working in business development and resourcing roles in the energy sector. His broad industry knowledge and previous experience, particularly in relation to mobilising personnel for deployment offshore, will provide an important contribution to aid the firm’s overseas growth.
QTEC director Colin Manderson said: “Dave is an excellent addition to our senior team here at QTEC. He brings a range of skills and experience from his previous roles in the energy sector that will complement and enhance the firm’s service provision to clients within the UK and overseas.
“QTEC is continuing to grow its business internationally and I am confident that the strategic insight which Dave can deliver will make a significant contribution to our continued success. The company has a dynamic culture where passion, drive and quality are at the forefront of our business.”
Commenting on his appointment, Dave Newbigging said: “I’m joining QTEC at an exciting point in its growth. The firm has already developed a strong track record and has enjoyed considerable success overseas, but tightening focus on regulatory and cost-efficiency issues presents further opportunities.
“I have been very impressed by the tremendous technical capabilities of the staff at QTEC and look forward to working with them to strengthen our presence internationally.”
