Aberdeenshire Council has launched £1.5million plans to build new housing on the site of the former Ellon Academy.

The academy was torn down almost a decade ago and pupils moved into a new £36million state-of-the-art facility at Cromleybank.

And now, the local authority has lodged plans to build 11 new affordable homes on the site.

The planning application for the new housing can be viewed here.

The new housing development would complement the recently opened Formartine House on part of the old school site.

It incorporates a library, family resource centre and council offices.

You can read more about the plans on the P&J website.
