MSIS boosts team to drive growth

MSIS has increased its business development team in Aberdeenshire with a number of key managerial appointments as it gears up for significant overseas expansion and continues to grow its UKCS position.

The company, which provides specialist cleaning and waste management products and services both on and offshore, is on track to increase its £11million turnover by 50% in the next three years through expansion at home and abroad, with 10% of revenues to come from international business.

Scott Laing, Alex Cain, Mike Ironside and Sarah Brown have been appointed to support the Inverurie-based company’s plans to break into the Middle-Eastern and West African markets.

With an in-depth knowledge of global markets and oilfield products, Scott Laing has been appointed as business development manager. He has 23 years of experience of mergers and acquisitions in the upstream oil and gas sector worldwide.

Prior to joining MSIS, Mr Laing held a number of senior business development positions where he generated growth, delivered increased revenue and profitability for companies with operations in the UK, Middle-east and Africa.

Mike Ironside, who takes up the role of senior account manager at MSIS, has enjoyed an extensive career in the oil and gas industry where he has worked in a number of engineering, operational support and business development roles. Most recently, he held the position of business development manager for Halliburton in Queensland, Australia, where he was responsible for increasing and developing the company’s growth and market position by identifying leads and implementing a business acquisition process.

Alex Cain, who has more than 16 years’ experience in the oilfield services business, becomes account manager at MSIS. He began his oil and gas career in 1984 as a roustabout for Santa Fe Drilling before joining SLD Pumps and Power as sales manager and going on to hold a number of business development positions.

Sarah Brown joins MSIS as an account manager, she holds a chemical engineering degree and has 14 years of industry experience including roles in manufacturing, research and development and operations. Off which 12 years was with M-I SWACO, her most recent position was account manager for a multi-million pound client in the North Sea.

The appointments follow a period of high activity within MSIS’ operations. Recently, the firm invested over £1m in its rental fleet and a new facility in Aberdeenshire.

The new 17,500 square foot base within the Kirkwood Commercial Park in Inverurie comprises a workshop, yard and warehouse to support the company’s expanded range of products and services, including new specialist cleaning equipment and bespoke training in the areas of confined entry and high pressure washing.
