Nearly 90% of the UK workforce are now back to working in the office more often as new data shows a steady shift away from working from home.

Data from the Virgin Media O2 business movers has revealed the number of firms requiring staff to attend the office three days a week rose in Q4 2024 to 75% - up from 67% in Q4 2023.

Remote working policies were swiftly implemented during the coronavirus pandemic as companies scrambled to adapt, but more and more firms are now bringing their employees back into the office.

The Times reports that 36% of survey respondents who preferred office working said it helped them be more productive, while 32% highlighted a better defined work-life boundary and balance.

Additionally, 20% noted the free heating while working in the office, and 5% said they were taking the opportunity of free showers in their workplace.

Last month, Lord Sugar spoke out and backed the shift to employees returning to the office, saying: "They've got to get their bums back into the office."
