Apollo has announced the appointment of 2 key staff members, Allan Grindlay and Nigel Robinson as it prepares itself for further growth. The employment of Allan to head Apollo’s Drilling Business Unit and Nigel to lead Apollo’s Marine and Subsea Business Unit allows Apollo to continue its growth strategy and offer clients a complete project lifecycle solution whilst providing value as a technically led engineering and project services provider.

Heading up the Drilling Business Unit, Allan, an experienced Mechanical and Chartered Marine Engineer, has spent his life working in the drilling industry. Allan’s addition to Apollo compliments the multi discipline engineering team already in place and empowers Apollo to further support clients in Rig Modifications, Rig Reactivation, Compliance and also Expert Witness cases.

Overseeing the expansion and development of Apollo’s Marine and Subsea capability is Nigel Robinson. Nigel has worked in the Marine and Offshore industry his entire career, having held technical leadership and senior management positions in Aberdeen and overseas. From the UK to Asia and the Americas, Nigel has honed his knowledge of engineering structures and marine operations, building specialist understanding of Substructures, Moorings, Risers and Marine Warranty Surveying.

Nigel’s focus is on consolidating Apollo’s successes in the marine, subsea and renewable sector and to drive the business forward, delivering first class service and value engineering solutions. “Apollo has a terrific practical engineering capability in a broad range of disciplines. It also is well represented in each phase of the offshore asset life cycle, from appraisal to development, operations and eventually decommissioning. Throughout there is a need for engineering-led marine and subsea solutions - which is a great opportunity for Apollo. I’d like to see us become the leading maritime engineering company for the UKCS, and a major player in subsea and renewable sectors."

In a recent press article, Apollo’s business development director, Jonathan White said that “the default and easy answer to date has been to utilise large corporate entities to give perceived assurance and lower risk, but this doesn’t have to be the case.”

These appointments demonstrate Apollo’s commitment to growth and delivery promises and allow the next stage of the Apollo story. The first six months of 2017 have been the busiest to date, with the market responding well to a technically led, value engineering solution.
