Rail disruption after car crashes into stone wall

Train services around Aberdeen have been disrupted after a car crashed into a stone wall above railway tracks.

Network Rail said the line between Aberdeen and Dyce had to be closed at about 21:00 on Saturday, while police sealed off the area at Donbank Terrace.

Specialist engineers have assessed the damage and repairs need to be carried out to the bridge parapet. Debris also needs to be removed from the area.

New York celebrates Scottish links at Tartan Week

For the 27th year running, New Yorkers gathered at 6th Avenue in Manhattan for the culmination of the New York City Tartan Week Mod.

The event celebrates the Big Apple's links to Scotland and welcomes participants from all over the world.

The march was presided over by actor Alan Cumming who was this year's Grand Marshall - following in the footsteps of Scots like Billy Connolly, Brian Cox and KT Tunstall.

One in four Britons victim of ticket scams for in-demand events, says Nationwide

One in four Britons say they have fallen victim to a ticket scam involving an in-demand event and lost £82 each on average, according to research issued ahead of the official Glastonbury festival ticket resale.

High demand and low availability, fuelled by “fomo” (fear of missing out), were creating a “perfect storm” for scammers, said Nationwide building society, which commissioned the analysis.

It made the warning as thousands – and potentially millions – of music fans gear up for a second chance to secure entry to this year’s Glastonbury after the bulk of the tickets sold out in 35 minutes in November.

Ex-Tory MSP claims 'disquiet' over move to right

An MSP who resigned from the Scottish Conservatives this week says there is "growing disquiet" among former colleagues over the party moving "increasingly to the right".

Jamie Greene told the BBC he had grown "deeply uncomfortable" over language used by the party, including the description of certain LGBT issues as a "dangerous ideology".

Greene, who defected to the Liberal Democrats on Friday, claimed he was not alone in feeling the Conservatives' shift to tackle the threat posed by Reform had alienated certain members.
