ModuSpec has crossed a significant project milestone of 75 successful blow out preventer (BOP) subsea deployments so far in 2024.
To date clients in the UK, Caspian, Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, Mediterranean and Norway have benefited from independent assurance that the BOP and associated well control equipment has been verified to be fit-for-service and ready for operations.
Many of the projects completed show compliance and readiness for deepwater, high pressure high temperature (HPHT) wells and mitigate the risk of potential H2S exposure.
ModuSpec’s methodology includes extensive review of documentation and certification, and inspection of component parts prior to witnessing a series of function and pressure testing at surface and subsea, underpinned with data from a real-time monitoring (RTM) system.
Lachlan Nally, Chief Operating Officer for ModuSpec, said: “We are delighted to have completed 75 successful BOP deployment projects. Our clients put immense trust in our technical teams to reduce their risk of equipment failure and pulling the BOP back to surface, which has the potential to cost millions of dollars. Through a blended mix of physical inspection, witnessing testing and reviewing data from our RTM system, we see our clients return time and time again for our independent assurance.”
Barry Holland, Technical Manager for ModuSpec, said: “Each and every BOP deployment project is treated with a high degree of care and our aim is to meet and exceed our client expectations. It’s a team effort from initial understanding of the scope of work, to working in collaboration with the rig owner and having highly competent surveyors onboard for the physical inspection and witnessing testing. With RTM data also available, we can provide a holistic service to clients during BOP pre-deployment and deployment.”
