Rig intake and inspection specialist ModuSpec has secured several contracts to support existing and new clients in North and West Africa, representing over £550,000 of revenue.

The awards include the intake of two jack-ups, a drillship, and a land-based drilling rig.

The ModuSpec team is currently supporting the acceptance of a 6th generation deepwater drillship for operations offshore Angola following completion of its 5-yearly recertification period. The drillship will be engaged in development wells on a multi-year campaign following completion of a drilling system integration test and successful deployment of the subsea blow out preventer (BOP).

Two projects are ongoing with jack-ups – one at a shipyard in Alexandria where a conventional design jack-up is warm stacked and under preparation for deployment offshore Egypt. The other jack-up, of modern cyber design, will be contracted by a client to drill offshore Gabon and is an operational unit. ModuSpec is supporting both clients to ensure that the drilling, mud, electrical, surface well control and jacking systems are being maintained, in a state of readiness and within compliance to commence drilling operations for the respective clients.

Onshore Gabon, the ModuSpec team will provide support during the reactivation of a 1,000hp land drilling rig which has been non-operational for two-and-a-half years. A team of multi-discipline technical subject matter experts will advise the client during the reactivation process, including overseeing witnessing acceptance testing at the wellsite.

Mark Watson, operations director with ModuSpec, said: “It is extremely pleasing to secure multiple projects with existing clients in Angola, Gabon, and Egypt. Our business development and technical teams have worked hard to understand client requirements and to subsequently deliver our customised rig intake solutions. The contract awards are a testament to the capabilities of the ModuSpec team and our ability to cover all types of rigs on land and offshore, both conventional and modern design.

“We look forward to delivering these projects over the coming weeks and months and continuing to serve our key clients in the African market.”
