Maureen Watt MSP visits Entier Limited to present IIYP Gold Accreditation

Maureen Watt MSP, Minister for Public Health, visited ‘the Olive House’ on Monday February 29, to present their recently achieved Investors in Young People (IIYP) Gold accreditation.

The visit on Scottish Apprenticeship Week was very timely as Maureen met the current crop of apprentice recruits and presented the IIYP accreditation that Entier have earned through the success of the apprenticeship programme ‘Fresh Olives’.

Commenting on their achievements, Ms Watt said: “It was a pleasure to visit Entier today at the start of Scottish Apprenticeship Week to find out what they’re doing to encourage and support their apprentice recruits. Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2016 is about showcasing the positive impact apprenticeships have on businesses and industry, and the value they bring to employers and to their own job prospects. Entier is a great example of that. The Scottish Government is committed to supporting young people towards jobs and apprenticeships, with an aim to have 30,000 new opportunities by 2020. “

Achieving the highly respected IIYP Gold accreditation is remarkable - Entier are one of only two companies in the North-east to achieve IIYP at this level, and thirteen in Scotland. The team from IIYP were extremely impressed with the Fresh Olives apprenticeship programme and the dedication that Entier shows to developing the workforce for the future.

Maureen met with Entier CEO Peter Bruce and took a tour of our state-of-the-art training academy, which includes a bespoke training kitchen and unique replica offshore cabin. She also presented recently qualified modern apprentice Alix Frost with SVQ level 3 in professional cookery as well as Jack Brimmer & Vicky Smith with their SVQs in management.

Entier are immensely proud of the Fresh Olives apprenticeship programme and it continues to be central to the business. Given the current climate in oil & gas in the North-east, they are proud to be able to promote the work that they do to ensure that the emerging young workforce are aware of opportunities available. This chimes with the recent recommendations from the Developing Young Workforce (DYW) report, which encouraged parity of esteem between apprenticeships and more traditional academic routes. As a business Entier straddles two sectors, oil & gas and food & drink, and demonstrates commitment to nurturing vital young talent, helping to secure the next generation’s workforce.

Maureen was also interested to learn more about Entier’s ongoing commitment to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene at all Entier locations and the business’s employee health and wellbeing programme.
