China has completely halted its imports of liquefied natural gas from the US.

The Financial Times reports shipping data reveals the imports have stopped completely for over 10 weeks now as the trade war between the superpowers rumbles on.

The last tanker delivering US liquefied gas to China docked in Fujian on February 6. There have been no others since,

Another tanker had seemed to be destined for China days later but was redirected to Bangladesh after failing to arrive before China's imposition of a 15% on US liquefied natural gas come into effect on February 10.

That tariff has since been hiked up to 49%, meaning US gas does not make economic sense for Chinese consumers.

A similar halt on imports was imposed by China on US liquefied natural gas for more than a year during Donald Trump's first stint in the White House.
