Benson for Beds has snapped up 19 former Carpetright stores including one in Aberdeen.
The carpet retailer fell into administration in July putting more than 1,000 jobs at risk. It later sold 54 shops and two warehouses to its rival, Tapi.
However, the furniture chain has now been acquired by bed specialists, Benson for Beds, which currently has a store at Aberdeen's Union Square shopping centre.
The retailing giant plans to begin trading from the new units within the next few weeks and is targeting former Carpetright employees to join its staff.
Bensons chief executive Nick Collard said its priority is to increase the number of stores across the UK, and the acquisition of the empty Carpetright stores supports its plans to expand its number of stores to over 200 in the next few years.
Mr Collard said: “Whilst market conditions for higher ticket purchases have remained very challenging, Bensons has continued to make real progress, by remaining focused on those things in our control.”
“Since our return to profitability in 2023, we’ve continued to see significant market share gains across all our core categories, reflecting the hard work from all our colleagues across the organisation," he continued.
Mr Collard added that Bensons work partnered with the announcement "leaves us well placed when the wider market starts to recover, allowing us to realise the longer term ambitions for Bensons and its colleagues.”
Other stores bought over by Bensons include Belfast, Exeter, Bath and Portsmouth.
PwC joint administrator Rachael Wilkinson said: "We're pleased to have reached an agreement for the sale of 19 former Carpetright stores to Bensons for Beds, and echo their hopes that the transaction will create future employment opportunities for former Carpetright employees."
