Organiser Normal Esslemont hailed the "magnificent effort" as his bus gates legal challenge crowdfunding campaign reached its £35,000 target - and issued a rallying call to "keep the pressure up".
The veteran retailer thanked generous donors for their 636 cash pledges and said he hoped the success of the campaign would send a "powerful message" to the local authority.
But although the crowdfunder, spearheaded by Mr Esslemont, passed its initial target and, as of this morning, sits on £35,130, a new stretched target of £49,000 has been set in case legal costs increase.

In a post on the crowdfunder titled "thanks and well done", Mr Esslemont said: "We have reached our initial target of £35,000 ,a magnificent effort with five days to go.
"Hopefully it sends a powerful message to the council and administrators that we are not to be ignored.
"Some of you may be wondering why there is now a stretch target of £49,000.
"It has always been there, and was a requirement of the Crowdjustice procedure and a sensible one, if a case proceeds to court it can be difficult to budget.
"We just need to keep steadily building the war chest with your help. Comments with pledges are always welcome. Let’s keep the pressure up!"
