The Maersk Training facility is setting a new benchmark in the industry in the UAE for advanced operational simulation training.
Maersk Training has set out to raise the bar for safety and competence in offshore drilling and maritime operations with a strong focus on human factor elements alongside operational performance.
“Despite the oil price, we think this is the right time to open our training facility in Dubai, UAE, as right now the focus of the industry is on improving crew competency to obtain better safety and operational excellence. These important elements are at the core of what we practice at Maersk Training. Previously companies had to send people outside the region for state-of-the-art training and a better learning experience, but we are happy that we are now able to provide this here in the region, thereby reducing total cost of training and further improving the safety standards in the region” said Claus Bihl, CEO of Maersk Training. “Our main focus will be on operational simulation with current integration of human factors, including teamwork, procedural discipline, communication, decision-making and situational awareness – all of this with the aim to safeguard and improve safety and operational excellence.”
The facility was officially inaugurated by H.E. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World. H.E. Merete Juhl, the Danish Ambassador was also part of the V.I.P guests who attended the opening of Maersk Training in Dubai.
The advanced simulation facility allows oil & gas and maritime companies to test planned operations in a life-like, but safe simulated environment. By ensuring that the crews are optimally prepared before they engage in the actual operation, the training aims to increase safety, save time and reduce cost. The hands-on scenario-based training goes well beyond traditional classroom training and allows teams to practice events and joint procedures together as an integrated unit, rather than as individual contributors.
