An Aberdeen training company has launched special education days for primary schools in the North-east of Scotland, with the first sessions hailed a great success.
Maersk Training in Aberdeen, which has facilities at Kingswells and Portlethen, is hosting free education days every month, with primary schools booking space for this unique oil & gas industry overview.
Children and teachers are given an insight into life within the industry, geology, give basic first aid training, and learn why training and teamwork is essential – and life-saving. They are also given hands-on experience of the crane, maritime and drilling simulators.
Managing director John Abate said:
“Most children in this area are either directly or indirectly affected by the oil & gas industry, whether it’s via their parents, family or friends. We want to give the children a special insight into this industry so they can better understand it, and also inspire them about the future, the endless possibilities, and to make their day fun and memorable.”
The monthly sessions are already fully booked until summer 2016.
