MAC Architects is delighted to announce they have strengthened their leadership by appointing a new Director as the business continues to expand.
The award-winning RIAS Chartered Architects firm based in Newmachar, Aberdeenshire, has promoted Euan McHardy to the role of director, who previously held the title of Senior Architectural Technologist with the firm.
Euan first joined MAC in 2015 and was responsible for the technical detailing and the 3D BIM design delivery whilst overseeing the day-to-day running of the firm and making sure all project demands were met. Over the years his skills have played a key role in supporting the practice as it has continued to evolve.
The newly appointed director will now assist managing director Jonathan Cheyne to fulfil the practice’s strategic ambition to establish the Aberdeenshire firm as an internationally renowned studio. Under Jonathan’s direction, the fledging studio has grown into a vibrant and thriving practice, which is currently delivering several key projects across the city and shire – including a new Barnquee venue at House of Elrick, exciting expansion plans at Camphill School, a food hall project at Aberdeen’s beachfront and an exclusive self build development in Aberdeens prestigious West End.
Euan said he is thrilled to take on the role of director and help lead the firm towards the future.
He said: “I’m delighted to have been given this opportunity to work alongside Jonathan as a director. MAC Architects is an experienced and vibrant practice with growing client demand and a variety of medium to large-scale projects currently on-going.
“I have been involved in numerous projects since I joined the firm eight years ago and I am very much looking forward to being involved in new exciting projects and helping lead the team as we look towards the future.”
MAC, who specialise in the latest BIM technology for residential and commercial projects with an
ethos to create places for people, also recently welcomed two additional members to the team.
Blair MacAskill joined the practice as a Part 1 Placement and will assist with tasks such as measured building surveys and preparing the 3D BIM models for projects, whilst having the opportunity to gain invaluable experience working with the MAC team.
After completing a year with the practice, Blair will return to the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture in Aberdeen to complete his Masters in Architecture.
In addition, Cameron Brebner joined the company in March 2022 as an Architectural Technologist and plays a key role in assisting with the preparation of the planning and building warrant applications for submission to the local authority.
Managing director Jonathan Cheyne welcomed the promotion of Euan to director and emphasised this is an exciting expansion period for the practice.
He said: “Euan has been with MAC for many years and is an experienced and highly respected individual in his field. He has been involved in many key projects and has built up a tremendous loyal portfolio of clients.”
He added: “I’m very much looking forward to the next chapter of MAC and I am confident with Euan’s new position along with our other new members Blair and Cameron this growth and change within our team will be hugely beneficial as we look towards the future.”
Following the appointment of Euan as director and the recent new members of the team joining, this brings the headcount of MAC Architects to 4. It is expected this number will increase to 6 by the end of 2024.
