Local charities benefit to the tune of £6,000 from Northern Star Awards

Five local charities are set to benefit from the generosity of the North-east business community after £6,000 was raised during this year’s Northern Star Business Awards.

Befriend a Child, Charlie House, Inspire PTL (Partnership Through Life), NSPCC Scotland and the Denis Law Legacy Trust will each receive a share of the funds raised during the annual black tie event which took place on October 5, 2017.

A total of 42 finalists joined around 600 guests at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre for the glittering awards ceremony organised by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce. Now in their 14th year, the Northern Star Business Awards have raised more than £30,000 in the last five years towards helping local charities.

Head of membership at the Chamber Seona Shand said it was important that as well as celebrating business excellence, the event could support member charities:

“It is a good time to remember others less fortunate than ourselves and we are very pleased that the generosity of guests attending this year’s event has allowed us to match the 2016 record and make a donation to these brilliant charities.

“The work they do makes a real difference to the lives of people here in the region and we are delighted our members have dug deep to show their support.”
