Six local businessmen will take on the mighty challenge of the West Highland Way tomorrow. The grueling five-day challenge will see the team cover 96 miles, starting in Milngavie and finishing at Gordon Square in Fort William on Sunday, September 10.
Lee Brandie of Wired Studio, Ian Nicol of Aircon Scotland, Mark Wilson of Space Solutions, Rob Geddes of RG Electrical, Keith Strachan of Transform and Eric Harper of Technip are raising funds for Aberdeen FC Community Trust. The group hopes to raise £4,500.
The AFC Community Trust was set up in 2014 to help promote Health and Wellbeing and Equality and Inclusion for all across the entire North-east. Aberdeen FC Community Trust works hard to harness the existing support and goodwill felt towards Aberdeen Football Club, and to utilise that positivity to empower communities and individuals locally, nationally and potentially internationally.
The money the group raise will help deliver the 60 programmes Aberdeen FC Community Trust currently run in Aberdeen City and Shire for various groups including the over 65s, disadvantaged children, ethnic and religious minority groups and people living with dementia.
Debra Christie, fundraising and business development coordinator at AFC Community Trust, says, “With the AFCCT team delivering so many programmes across the City and Shire now it is very important for us to have a steady stream of funds to continue this.
“We can’t thank the group enough for taking on this challenge in aid of AFCCT, having already raised a fantastic amount of money.
“Everyone here would like to wish them the very best of luck on their adventure!”
