A North-east family run business is calling on the public to help them support a national charity’s coffee morning with a twist.
The Store, an award-winning family run enterprise, which is based in Foveran, Aberdeenshire, is encouraging the public to support the national coffee morning to raise vital funds for cancer charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.
The coffee morning with a twist, otherwise known as the Cook Book Swap, will take place on Friday 25 September.
The local business is asking the public to drop off old cookbooks at its premises in Foveran from Monday 1 September. The books will then go on sale later on in the month at the Cook Book Swap event to help raise funds for the charity.
Individuals who donate cookbooks to the event will receive a voucher for a complimentary coffee and fine piece, which can be redeemed at The Store during the Macmillan national coffee morning.
The Store is also encouraging the public to support the charity by purchasing donated cookbooks at the Cook Book Swap event, which has been organised to raise awareness of the charity in the North-east. Free tea and coffee and a fine piece will be offered to the public visiting The Store all day.
Owner and managing director of The Store, Andrew Booth, said: “This year we have decided to put a twist on the traditional coffee morning for Macmillan, and are calling on the public to help us raise vital funds by donating cookbooks for the Cook Book Swap event.
“We want to encourage as many people to get involved in the coffee morning as possible. Cooking and baking has grown extremely popular over the past few years so we thought it would be a great idea to allow people to purchase old and new cookbooks to take home to test out some of the recipes. You never know what cracking recipes you will come across.”
Jennifer Mitchell, senior fundraising manager of Macmillan Cancer Support said: “We are extremely grateful to Andrew and staff at The Store for supporting our Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning. It’s a very special year for us, as we are celebrating 25 years of coffee morning. In my work, I often come across people whose lives have been thrown into disarray by a cancer diagnosis. That’s why supporting and taking part in events like our coffee morning is so important. When families are at breaking point and have nowhere else to turn, we’re here to help”
