lightbulb.coach, a pioneering coaching company based in Aberdeen, has announced the launch of its sixth cohort for its International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited professional coaching course starting this September.

This continues the company’s journey in creating a new generation of certified coaches who are equipped to make a positive impact for the future workforce.

Founder Sarah Smith, an accredited coach and learning and development professional, shared: "I’m thrilled to continue our journey in training and certifying coaches. Our programme helps individuals develop the essential coaching skills that prepare them to support others effectively. These skills can be highly beneficial across a range of business, educational, professional and personal settings, fostering improved performance, enhanced relationships, and greater confidence.”

“There is a growing trend in coaches entering the market covering an array of niches. As an unregulated and multi-mullion pound industry, anyone can ‘call’ themselves a coach.”

Sarah continued “A coach without training can cause a great deal of damage so it’s important that we offer a way for existing and aspiring coaches to get the necessary training, practice and assessment so they can operate as a fully qualified and certified coach.”

The firm launched its first coaching course in February 2022 and is currently delivering its fifth cohort. “Two years on, I’m delighted to currently be running our fifth cohort and receiving amazing feedback,” said Sarah.

A recent course graduate, Holly from Aberdeen commented: “I was excited to start my coaching training, after considering it for a number of years, and it has proven to be even better than I anticipated. The course was so informative, moved at the right pace and the practical element really helped to build skills and knowledge. Sarah is a brilliant coach and trainer, a subject matter expert who can break things down, and also bring an element of fun and positivity to the whole experience. I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who wants to embark on becoming a Coach.”

Spaces are still available for the September cohort. Aspiring coaches, educators, and professionals looking to enhance and develop their skills are encouraged to enrol.

As part of its broader mission, the company wants to work with schools to raise awareness of the benefits of coaching and are now offering the course to senior school pupils.

Sarah and her team are set to begin work with 10 pupils from Mackie academy in September, all of whom will work to become certified coaches.

“Pupils will have the opportunity to train and qualify as ICF Certified Coaches and coach younger pupils who are seeking extra support. Coaching provides invaluable skills that can prevent the need for therapeutic interventions by building resilience and confidence in young people,” added Sarah.

This initiative reflects lightbulb.coach's commitment to the development of young people and integrating coaching within education. In order to fund the pupil courses lightbulb.coach is seeking sponsorship from the private sector to support the development of the future workforce.
