Lidl has submitted an offer to buy the land which was once home to the Aberdeen Journals, in a last minute attempt to stay in the area.
Supermarket chiefs put in a bid earlier this month but negotiations about plans for the demolished have been ongoing since the former offices were flattened six years ago.
Lidl's Lang Stracht store is the oldest branch in Aberdeen and has pleaded with locals about its desire to stay in the area since the firm was "unable to renew" the lease.
The German supermarket giant announced it was to close its Mastrick store in December as it approached its 25th anniversary of serving the people of Summerhill and surrounding areas.
