Lidl's Lang Stracht store is set to close - but the supermarket is already "actively looking" for alternative sites in the area.

The Press and Journal reports the landlord of the Lang Stracht Lidl land has "other plans" for the site when the current lease comes to an end this year.

The closure was announced as the store approached its 25th anniversary serving the people of Summerhill and surrounding areas.

And while a huge Tesco superstore has since been built just along the road at Woodend, Lidl is still keen to open a new store in the area when the current one closes, which is expected to happen around July.

The German giant is also expected to redeploy staff from the Lang Stracht store to other branches.
