Let them shine with APA Summer School 2019

The school holidays are just around the corner, and young people who love to learn about music, drama and performing will have their chance to shine at Aberdeen Performing Arts’ Summer Schools programme this July.

Sessions cater for a wide range of ages, from Primary through to Secondary age pupils, and provide the perfect creative outlet to develop social skills, make new friends and build confidence, in the beautiful setting of the Music Hall’s purpose-built Tutti Studio.

Junior groups (P1-3 and P4-7) will work throughout the week with tutors to create their very own musical, while Seniors (S1-S6) will work on a gothic classic drama. Both will have the chance to perform their finished work in the Music Hall’s Big Sky Studio.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Creative Learning Manager, Lisa Mathieson, said: “These classes are a great chance for young people who are interested in music, acting and drama to learn new skills and find out what goes on behind the scenes when putting on a production.

“If you’re looking for something to keep your young children happy, safe and engaged then it’s the perfect solution for the summer holiday, and for secondary school students it’s a fantastic opportunity to perform in front of an audience in a professional setting in Aberdeen. Come along and learn something new, meet like-minded people and have fun!”

Classes for both Summer Schools will be led by Aberdeen Performing Arts’ talented and experienced tutors, Lewis Catto, Music Development Coordinator, and Laura Callahan, Drama Development Coordinator.

Junior 1 (Primary 1-3) and Junior 2 (Primary 4-7) sessions will take place from Monday, July 15 – Friday, July 19, with Junior 1 sessions from 9.30am-12pm, and Junior 2 from 1-4.30pm and cost £75 for the week.

Seniors (S1-6) Summer schools take place from Monday, July 22 – Friday, July 26 from 10am-4pm, and cost £110.
