Aberdeen's largest PR agency, The BIG Partnership, has donated its entire budget for corporate gifts to Northsound’s Cash for Kids Christmas appeal.
Staff from the full service communications agency have been on a shopping spree to buy toys and games instead of the usual cases of wine, hampers and corporate goodies so that every child wakes up to a parcel on Christmas morning.
BIG director, Zoe Ogilvie, said: “We’re all facing tough decisions this Christmas. With budgets under pressure and the cut-backs we have seen among our client base, it seemed frivolous to be spending on corporate gifts.
“Charities are feeling the knock-on effect of the downturn caused by the low oil price and struggling to secure the support they usually receive at this time of year. With this in mind, we decided to put our budget for client gifts towards Northsound’ Cash for Kids Mission Christmas.
BIG’s gift to every client this year is a present for an underprivileged young person. With around 50 clients in Aberdeen, the communications agency has donated the same amount of presents for boys and girls from toddlers to teenagers to Northsound.
Mrs Ogilvie added: “An astonishing one in six children live in poverty in Aberdeen and we felt that giving them something special this Christmas on our client’s behalf was the right thing to do and our clients agree. It allows us to thank our clients for their support in 2015 but also provide some much-needed cheer to those in need.”
ADIL, Aker Solutions, Ashtead Technology, DNV, Dandara, Harkand, KPMG, OPITO, Stewart Milne Group, Stronachs, The Underwater Centre, Vattenfall and Xodus are some of the clients in whose name gifts are being donated.
