For the second year running, an afternoon tea party event organised and funded by Stronachs LLP has raised £10,000 for a local charity.
Around 80 guests attended the firm’s ‘Tea in the Park’ event, which took place at The Park Café, Hazlehead, in support of Friends of ANCHOR. Funds were raised from ticket sales, games, a raffle and an auction, with a range of prizes and items being donated by local and regional businesses.
Donated items included a unique pendant by Sinclairs of Inverurie, that was designed and created especially for the event, and VIP tickets for Superbikes 2017 donated by James Jamieson Construction Ltd.
Other popular items included an iPhone 7 donated by Arrow Communications; a luxury weekend in Edinburgh donated by Munro’s Travel; and a ‘Shetland Experience’ donated by Star Rent-A-Car and Shetland-based, Frank and Debbie Strang from Saxa Vord Resort.
Unique gifts and accessories were also available to buy from local retailers, Feather & Grey, Happy Face Designs, From Bakery Lane and local artist, Shelagh Swanson.
Entertainment was provided by singer Robert Bruce who was trained by the same vocal coach as Michael Ball and Elaine Page, with hair and beauty demonstrations by Ishoka and gin-tasting courtesy of The Teasmith Spirit Company.
Carol Crowther, Partner and chair of Stronachs Social & Charities Committee, said: “We are so pleased to have repeated the success of last year’s event by raising just over £10,000 for Friends of ANCHOR, our nominated charity for 2017, and hope to make ‘Tea in the Park’ an annual event.
“Friends of ANCHOR is a truly inspirational charity, which does so much to support cancer sufferers and their families throughout the region, including contributing towards equipment, services and cancer research. It was important to us at Stronachs to fully fund the event to ensure that every penny raised, in whatever form, would go directly to the charity.
“I would like to thank everyone who donated money, prizes or auction items, and volunteered their time to help make the event such a success. Most of all, I would like to thank those who attended the event. Their enthusiasm and generosity enabled us, once again, to raise a sum which far exceeded our expectations.”
Rhona Miller, senior finance and fundraising executive at Friends of ANCHOR said: “We were delighted to join Tea in the Park for 2017. The event was a great success, raising over £10,000 for Friends of ANCHOR.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Stronachs for organising what was a truly fantastic event, and to all those who contributed, attended and supported the afternoon and ultimately the cause.”
Having met half of their fund-raising target of £20,000 for the year, Stronachs’ partners and staff will continue to support Friends of ANCHOR throughout 2017 by participating in a range of sporting and other events organised by or on behalf of the charity.
