KPMG UK has launched its 2019 graduate programmes for the audit and tax, pensions and legal services practices. Roles are available throughout the UK – from Aberdeen to Southampton - and graduates from all subjects are invited to apply.
In recent years, KPMG in Scotland, which currently employs more than 960 staff across its offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, has increased investment in both of its apprenticeship and graduate programmes.
In 2017, KPMG in Scotland doubled its intake of apprentices from six in 2016 to 12 in 2017, bringing the total number in Scotland to 24. For the 2017 graduate programme, the firm’s Scottish practice took on 59 graduates (Edinburgh – 26, Glasgow – 19, Aberdeen – 14).
This month, the Scottish practice will welcome a record high of 71 graduates in Edinburgh (30), Glasgow (25) and Aberdeen (16) for its 2018 programme – with ambitions to offer a similar number of places for the 2019 programme.
Martin Findlay, KPMG’s senior partner in Aberdeen, said: “In the past year, we have delivered positive revenue growth, with a marked increase in the growth of our audit division in recent months. This growth is being driven by the commencement of significant new audit work within Scotland and comes at a time when the rest of the practice in Aberdeen is also experiencing an uptick in activity on the back of renewed confidence in the oil and gas sector.
“With investment in talent being a long-term strategy for the firm, we are committed to providing the tools and support that people need to be highly successful throughout their career with us. We are very much looking forward to welcoming the latest graduates in Aberdeen, and we encourage new applicants for our 2019 graduate programme, which is currently open.”
Across the UK, KPMG has already seen 620 new audit graduates start with the firm in 2018. This represents a 36% increase on the class of 2017 and highlights the increasing investment in graduates across all regions of the UK – especially within KPMG’s audit division.
Catherine Burnet, senior partner for KPMG in Scotland, said: “We are very aware that to remain competitive and find the best people, we must be innovative and diversify how we approach the market. From strategic hires for senior appointments to our excellent graduate and apprenticeship programmes, we are committed to bringing a diverse range of people and expertise into the firm. This diversity across the business enables us to respond to the changing needs of our clients and the market place.
“As we continue to see significant growth in Tax, Audit, Consulting and Deal Advisory in Scotland, we want to ensure that we build on this success, as well as capitalise on new opportunities. Our commitment to investing in people and nurturing talent from day one of accepting an offer will not only help us to achieve our revenue and growth ambitions for Scotland, but also ensure that our best people stay with us.”
KPMG’s innovative recruitment process involves graduates engaging with multiple people over the course of one day to ensure that there is a good fit with the corporate culture, as well as finding the right balance of knowledge and skills required to advise a diverse range of clients across a range of sectors.
