A group of 40 staff from KPMG’s Aberdeen office are set to take to Scotland’s hills this weekend to raise money for The Prince’s Trust.
Four teams of 10 will set off on Saturday September 17 to tackle a range of climbs including Lochnagar and Millstone Hill to raise money for the charity as it celebrates its 40th year.
KPMG has had a partnership with The Prince’s Trust since 2014 and its Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow offices have raised more than £67,000 for the charity, which helps disadvantaged young people to get their lives on track.
The Prince’s Trust supports 13 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed, struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. The Trust’s programmes give vulnerable young people the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping develop self-esteem and skills for work. The charity supported 56,000 young people last year, with three in four people supported by The Prince’s Trust moving into work, education or training.
KPMG’s Aberdeen office has seen significant investment in recent years and provides a diversified and locally-based offering to its client base, including tax and audit, specialist tax areas including innovation, transaction and corporate finance, restructuring, forensic, people and consultancy services. As KPMG’s most northerly UK office, Aberdeen’s clients extend from Dundee to the Northern Isles as well as London-headquartered and international businesses. The city’s role in the global oil and gas industry means that the office is the UK centre of excellence for oilfield services and has strong connections with KPMGs global energy network spanning the major energy hubs and emerging territories.
Martin Findlay, KPMG’s office senior partner in Aberdeen, said: “During our partnership with the charity we have fundraised through bake sales, quiz nights and dress down days, and everyone has always been very supportive of our efforts. This year, as the Prince’s Trust is celebrating its 40th year, we wanted to do something big to mark the occasion.
“We decided to involve 40 staff members as a nod to the charity’s anniversary and we were thrilled when the Aberdeen KPMG team stepped up and volunteers of all abilities came forward for the climb.
“Everyone is really looking forward for the day and we hope we can raise lots of money for this fantastic charity. Having worked with the Prince’s Trust for almost two years we are well aware of the vital work the charity does and we know that all the money we raise will have a positive impact on the lives of young people,” said Mr Findlay.
Katherine Bell of The Prince’s Trust said: “At The Prince’s Trust Scotland we really appreciate the ongoing support of KPMG. We simply couldn’t deliver the range of programmes to young people who need our help without partnerships like this.”
