Jera IT is issuing a new warning in response to the latest report from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which reveals a surge in cyber attacks that are both more frequent and catastrophic.
The NCSC's Incident Management (IM) team has intervened 430 times this year, marking an increase from the 371 interventions last year.
Of these incidents, 89 were considered nationally significant, and there were 12 critical incidents - three times more than this time last year. Additionally, the number of attacks this year has more than doubled compared to last year.
“This report highlights a widening gap between the preparedness of UK businesses and the sophistication and volume of cyber attacks we're facing,” said Ally Hollins-Kirk, managing director at Jera IT.
“Cyber security is no longer a luxury or an optional add-on provided by your Managed Service Provider (MSP). It must be at the forefront of your cyber strategy for 2025.”
Jera IT emphasises that businesses of all sizes and across all industries are at risk. The company is urging organisations to take immediate action to protect themselves.
“It doesn't matter what size you are or what industry you're in; you are statistically more at risk of a cyber attack now than ever before. And if you aren't prepared, it could have serious repercussions for your business,” Hollins-Kirk added.
To assist businesses in bolstering their cyber defenses, Jera IT is offering a limited number of free vulnerability audits to businesses in Scotland. Businesses can reach out to the team at services@jerait.co.uk to arrange an assessment, or click the link here to contact the team directly.
The audit will include a comprehensive list of identified issues and an action plan to bring the business up to the necessary standard for optimal security.
