Native Aberdonian lands spot on daytime show he grew up listening to.

It will be a homecoming for local man Jeff Diack who hit the airwaves today as the new daytime presenter (10am to 2pm) on the North-east’s number 1 local radio station, Northsound 1.

With 13 years of radio broadcasting under his belt, Jeff brings a fresh sound and energy to the station, taking listeners from the breakfast show ‘Micky in the Morning’ with Micky, Suzie and Travel Pete (6am to 10am) and entertaining them right the way through to Andy James’ Homerun show (3pm to 7pm).

No stranger to the Bauer Media family, Jeff’s a familiar voice having graced both Northsound 1 and Forth 1 during his career. He first joined Northsound 1 at the age of 17, fresh out of Aberdeen College with an HNC in Radio Broadcasting. He used his lecturer contacts to land weekend work at the station where he first cut his teeth. His flair for radio was quickly spotted resulting in a slot on the coveted Northsound 1 evening show.

After a couple of years, Jeff swapped the Granite City for the Capital City, moving to Forth 1 where he entertained listeners on the late night show.

A keen traveller, and with sunnier climes in mind, he moved to Cairo, Egypt to present on Nile FM’s breakfast show. After a brief hiatus from radio altogether to try out a ‘sensible’ job, Jeff is back on his beloved air and raring to go.

Commenting on his appointment, Jeff said: “I’ve landed my perfect job. It’s so exciting to be back at Northsound 1, the station where it all started for me.

“I love working in radio and to be back in my home town, presenting on this iconic station which I grew up listening to is a dream come true.

“The listeners in the North-east really are fantastic. I want to make sure I’m bringing them the best music for their workday, great chat and the latest news on what’s happening across Aberdeen and the ‘shire.”

“Radio allows you to speak to your audience directly, you’re in the car with someone or in someone’s home or office. It allows you to connect with individuals in a unique way.

“I’m so excited to be working alongside such a great team at Northsound 1 and I can’t wait to get stuck in!”

John Slater, Content Director at Northsound 1 said: “On behalf of everyone here at Northsound 1 we would like to welcome Jeff to the fold. He knows the station and the audience really well so we know he will be an excellent addition.

“He’s a born and bred Aberdonian who grew up listening to the station so we couldn’t think of a better fit. Welcome back Jeff!”

Tune into Northsound 1 from 10am to 2pm every weekday to hear Jeff’s show.
