JBS is taking part in Scottish Enterprise’s Net Zero Academy, joining 15 other North-east firms committed to tackling emissions and embedding sustainable practices across their operations.

The business has made a substantial investment in a range of sustainability measures aimed at creating a more energy-efficient future.

Over the past year, JBS has installed 194 solar panels generating 50kW of renewable energy, upgraded to high-efficiency LED lighting and modernised its plant and equipment. The firm's fleet has also been enhanced to reduce environmental impact.

As a result, JBS is now 63% energy self-sufficient, tracking CO2 reductions and other key metrics through a dedicated dashboard.

Jo McIntosh, sales and marketing director at JBS, said: “The Net Zero Academy has been a valuable opportunity for us to push forward with our sustainability goals. It's been a team effort and the experience has brought real insight into how we can continue to improve and reduce our environmental footprint.”

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) form the backbone of the strategy, with support from JBS HSEQ engineer Paul McCafferty, its representative on the Net Zero Academy programme.

As JBS advances its journey towards net zero, the company remains committed to integrating sustainable practices across its operations.
