International television star James Corden is heading to Aberdeen City Centre in the spring to headline the Ultimate Masterclass Festival.
The celebrated actor, comedian, and former host of The Late Late Show in America will be interviewed at the Music Hall during a two-night takeover by festival organisers Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce and TotalEnergies.
Night one – on May 14 – will see filmmaker Louis Theroux take to the stage to share stories from his incredible 30-year television career.
And on night two – on May 15 – Corden’s masterclass will offer an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at his career, spanning his breakthrough as the co-creator of Gavin & Stacey, through to his experiences working with some of the biggest names in entertainment.
All 1,400 tickets for Louis Theroux sold out within 48-hours and organisers are expecting similar demand for the James Corden tickets, which are on sale now at umf.events.
Event host and Chamber Marketing Director Ryan Crighton said: “The Ultimate Masterclass Festival exists for two reasons – to inspire our business community with new thinking, and to support the recovery of our city centre with exciting events.
“We were blown away by the reaction to our evening with Louis Theroux and have been overwhelmed by the public support for our efforts to bring people back to Union Street.
“We are delighted to add James Corden – a global entertainment icon – to the line-up. His journey from Gavin & Stacey to Hollywood is one of the most fascinating success stories in modern entertainment.
“With Louis Theroux kicking off the series and now James Corden joining the line-up, Aberdeen is proving itself as a go-to destination for top-tier events. We look forward to welcoming James to the North-east and giving audiences a night to remember.”
Corden began his career in British TV with roles in shows like Fat Friends and The History Boys, showcasing his talent for comedy and drama.
His major breakthrough came with his role in the production of Gavin & Stacey, which he co-created and starred in. The success of the show earned him multiple BAFTA awards, including Best Male Comedy Performance.
He then had a successful transition to American TV as the host of The Late Late Show, working with stars like Adele, Paul McCartney, and Stevie Wonder on segments like Carpool Karaoke.
He has since gone on to host prestigious events such as the Tony Awards and the Grammy Awards, furthering his ability to connect with large and diverse audiences.
Over the course of his career, he has also starred in big films such as Into The Woods, Peter Rabbit, Cats, and Oceans 8.
More than 4,000 people attended the UMF series in 2023, which was headlined by ‘Diary of a CEO’ star Steven Bartlett and ‘How to Fail’ podcaster Elizabeth Day.
And last year the series welcomed footballer-turned-entrepreneur Gary Neville, television icon Davina McCall and sporting legends Gianfranco Zola, Damon Hill and Colin Montgomerie.
Tickets for An Evening with James Corden are on sale now at umf.events or via Aberdeen Performing Arts.
