Comedy fans up and down the North-east coast of Scotland are set for a ticket scramble this week when stand-up legend Jack Dee’s brand new tour goes on sale, with not one, not two, but three local dates scheduled!
Jack’s brand new stand-up tour, Off The Telly, first stops off at Dundee’s Whitehall Theatre, which is fast becoming a must-stop venue for the country’s biggest comedy tours. Then it’s onto an intimate show at what may be Arbroath’s best kept secret, the fabulous 500 seat Webster Memorial Theatre, in what will be a real comic treat for Angus’ theatre fans. Finally, Jack will finish his run at Aberdeen’s Music Hall in what will be another sell-out return to the city.
Star of TV sitcoms Bad Move, Lead Balloon and Josh, Jack also hosts the legendary Radio 4 show I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue. Additional credits include presenting Jack Dee’s Helpdesk on BBC Two, C4’s The Jack Dee Show, ITV’s Jack Dee’s Saturday Night, BBC’s Jack Dee’s Happy Hour and Jack Dee Live at the Apollo. “In fact,” explains Jack, “I’ve probably appeared in every TV show with my name in the title”.
Other sidelines include motivational speaking, which Jack describes as “Basically a total waste of time, talking to losers, but the cash is decent” and then adds “Don’t print that”. It’s so hard to tell when he’s being serious.
Quote from Jack “In these difficult and uncertain times people need hope – a ray of sunshine to brighten their day. And that’s very much where I come in”
Quote from Doug Taylor of promoter Mint of Montrose “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing one of Britain’s best-loved comedy stars to Dundee, Arbroath and Aberdeen. We’re expecting tickets to fly out the door as everyone looks forward to getting back to supporting their local theatres and most importantly, laughing in a room together again!”
