The magic of Christmas is coming to life in Aberdeen this weekend with music, dancing, and best of all… the arrival of Santa.
The Winter Wonderland at Bon Accord, run in partnership with CLAN Cancer Support, launches tomorrow (Saturday, November 19) and excited children from across the North-east will get their first chance to have one-on-one time with Santa and tell him all their Christmas wishes.
Bon Accord is celebrating the launch with an event designed to help everyone ‘Get Christmas Ready’ – so by the end of the shopping trip it’s not only the kids who will be full of the festive spirit.
Local choirs will be regaling the crowds with Christmas songs, City Moves will be dazzling with its dance group, festive food and sweets samples will be on offer, key winter trends and gift ideas will presented in fashion shows – and don’t forget to lookout for the Christmas elves who will be out and about during the event with golden giveaways.
Prizes range from winning your parking for free, to a top prize of a £500 shopping spree at Bon Accord.
Craig Stevenson, centre manager, Bon Accord, said: “Christmas is a time for giving and when we should be focusing on those we love rather than spending time being stressed.
“Making our customers lives as easy as possible and giving them something extra special is what we strive to do at Bon Accord, and we’re looking forward to helping give some inspiration at our Get Christmas Ready event, as well as a lot of fun.”
A number of retailers will be offering gift ideas and advice in stalls throughout the day and Northsound will be broadcasting live from Bon Accord, bringing music and even more laughs to proceedings.
Susan Crighton, CLAN fundraising manager, added: “Our Get Christmas Ready event is going to be a fun event for the whole family and we hope lots of boys and girls will come and visit Santa during the weekend.
“Everyone who visits will not only make their Christmas experience extra special but will make a huge difference to someone currently affected by cancer. All proceeds from the Winter Wonderland will go towards providing free support services to anyone affected by cancer throughout the north-east of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.”
Bon Accord will be live streaming and posting on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter throughout the day – so follow along online to keep up to date with all the events. And don’t forget to look for the new Snapchat filter.
