A lucky North-east school girl’s Christmas dreams came true after winning breakfast with Santa.
Sophia McGoldrick, of Culter Primary School, enjoyed breakfast with Father Christmas after she won Bon Accord and St Nicholas’ ‘Breakfast With Santa’ competition. Her drawing of a Christmas scene and Christmas wish, which is to become a fairy, was selected as the winner out of hundreds of entries sent in from primary school pupils across Aberdeen City and shire.
The primary one pupil was joined by 10 of her friends at Di Maggio’s Italian Caffe and they were treated to breakfast and a special Christmas gift as they chatted with Santa away from the crowds.
As part of the competition, pupils were asked to draw pictures and think of a Christmas wish to help remind Santa of home whilst he takes up residence at the Winter Wonderland in Bon Accord.
All the entries will be used to decorate the walls of his home in the centre, which will be open to visitors this weekend from 10am to 4pm and from Saturday, December 17, will be open every day from 10am to 4pm (apart from Christmas Eve where the grotto is open from 10am to 1pm).
All donations from the Winter Wonderland will also go to CLAN Cancer Support.
Craig Stevenson, centre manager, said: “Santa received lots of entries this year, I know it was very difficult for him to choose a winner. Sophia’s drawing captured his attention as it reminded him of home and what Christmas truly means. Her drawing has been put up inside the Winter Wonderland.
“This time of year is all about giving and that is why all donations from the Winter Wonderland will go to CLAN Cancer Support. Why not come along and see all the superb drawings for yourself, as well as support a very worthwhile north-east charity.”
