It’s a double whammy for Ferguson Legal

Everyone might be talking about the BAFTA Awards, but in Scotland, Ferguson Legal is racking up their own list of awards, proving they are not your average law firm.

Ferguson Legal has been announced as AI’s Most Innovative Law Firm in Scotland 2016 along with managing director, Carole Ferguson being named Women in Law’s, Health & Safety Lawyer of the Year.

These accolades recognise Ferguson Legal as the fresh and innovative firm it set out to be three years ago with a unique attitude which puts them at the heart of your business, allowing for a highly commercial and strategic approach.

Managing director Carole Ferguson is a dual-qualifed solicitor and barrister and has worked on a number of high-pro legal cases, including Potters Bar rail crash and Ladbroke Grove Rail incident.

Carole explains, “I am a commercial lawyer with expertise in Health & Safety and Environmental and a specialism in corporate defence, compliance and regulatory work.”

“I have substantial experience in defending national and international organisations as well as private and public sector clients following workplace incidents. Acting for both corporations and individuals, I provide advice and assistance in compliance and regulatory issues as well as handle cases from the minute an incident/ accident occurs through the investigation stages to any resultant prosecution and or civil action. I have considerable knowledge of high hazard sectors including: construction & engineering; oil & gas; marine; manufacturing; and haulage & transport.”

Always pushing boundaries and expectations, Carole has also launched an innovative new service called Outsource following the drop in the global oil price, one of the reasons these sought after awards have been won.

The ‘on demand’ in-house lawyer service, offers the expertise of an inhouse lawyer without the commitment. Outsource gives companies a fixed cost per month. A service contract gives the client full financial control by outlining the precise legal work required.

“I live in Aberdeen and see first-hand the problems faced by the oil industry. They were under immense pressure to cut costs, but couldn’t risk having an in-house legal adviser who wasn’t fully qualifed, and it’s the same in many other sectors,” she explained.

“I had seen the trend for an outsource service work well in Australia and the United States and saw this could be the perfect opportunity to introduce it here, not just to the oil industry but across all markets.”

“My clients love to have the personal service without the full-time commitment, as well as the option of having their lawyer work remotely or in the office.”

Outsource is a natural progression for Carole, who enjoys the freedom of practising law as principal solicitor in her own firm with her own culture and modern legal environment.
