They battled through thick mud and daunting obstacles putting their comradery to the test to raise money for a good cause.
Conquering a dip in an icy loch and pitch black tunnels among other tasks challenged the team at ITB Competence Assurance – but they emerged triumphant after taming the Banchory Beast.
Running the 10km course under the Forget Me Nots team name, the eight strong ITB group raised £1,270 for their nominated charity Alzheimer Scotland.
Managing director Jenny Stokes led her colleagues through the challenging course. She said: “Training and teamwork are an integral part of our day-to-day life at ITB and this came to the fore for us all at the weekend. The Beast certainly tested us and we are delighted to have met the challenge. We all wanted to raise as much as we could for Alzheimer Scotland and kept the charity in mind when things were starting to feel quite tough.
“There was an element of nerves as we were all lining up, but once we got going it was great fun to get into the spirit of the event. The atmosphere on the day was incredible and it is an accomplishment we are all really proud of. Raising £1,270 for such a fantastic cause is the cherry on top and we know the donation will make a difference to them.”
Money raised by the ITB Forget Me Nots team will go towards the equipping of Alzheimer Scotland Aberdeen's new Dementia Resource Centre on King Street Aberdeen.
Catherine Thomas, Head of Fundraising for Alzheimer Scotland said: “There are over 3000 people with dementia in Aberdeen and Alzheimer Scotland’s new Dementia Resource Centre is open to anyone who is affected by dementia, providing information, support, fun and social activities and much more. We are very grateful to the Forget Me Nots and everyone at ITB for taking on such a tough challenge and for helping us make sure nobody in Aberdeen faces dementia alone.”
