ITB Competence Assurance aim to tame the beast

Training and teamwork are at the heart of daily life at ITB Competence Assurance – but for the Aberdeen-based firm those two words are about to take on a whole new meaning.

The competency specialist has entered an 11-strong team for this year’s Banchory Beast, a gruelling 10km challenge pitting mind and body against 20 daunting obstacles.

ITB’s team, ranging in age from two members in their 20s to one in their 60s, will tackle the Deeside course on September 26.

They will face thick mud, shoulder-high bogs, 12ft wooden walls, barbed wire, tunnels, icy water and many more hurdles along the route.

Teams are encouraged to work as a unit to complete the course in what has been described by organisers as a true test of camaraderie and will power.

The ITB group, running under the Forget Me Nots team name, has chosen Alzheimer Scotland as its nominated charity.

Managing director Jenny Stokes will lead the intrepid group and is looking forward to the challenge. She said: “The Banchory Beast has grabbed everyone’s attention and has created a real buzz in the office. Training is in full swing and it is great to have a shared goal, with our fundraising for Alzheimer Scotland a wonderful motivation. It is a really great cause.

“The event promises to be a lot of fun and we are looking forward to it – albeit with a bit of trepidation. We have a fantastic group of people at ITB and when we tackle events like this the teamwork really shines through.”

Monies raised by the ITB Forget Me Nots team will go towards the equipping of Alzheimer Scotland Aberdeen's new Dementia Resource Centre on King Street Aberdeen.

John Law, Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer Scotland in Aberdeen said: "Working with ITB is proving to be an exciting relationship for us and we are hugely appreciative of the great efforts they have committed to in taking on the Banchory Beast event. The money raised by ITB will make a very significant difference to the facilities we can offer at the new Dementia Resource Centre. So big thanks team ITB."
