iO IT Services, a leading name in the local IT, connectivity and communications services industry, has celebrated its 5th year in business amid a period of significant growth and development.

The IT Managed Service Provider (IT MSP), known as iO, was established in July 2019 by David McCready and Nick Pickering, and has since grown from strength to strength. As the MSP moves into its 6th year, they have reflected on the journey, which has seen challenges and achievements in equal measure.

The Aberdeen-headquartered company, which now employs 11 staff, has seen turnover increase to over £1million from its operations locally and across the whole of the UK.

In the last year iO have achieved ISO 9001 certification, renewed Cyber Essentials, joined the Achilles Network, and implemented an enhanced Continual Service Improvement Program, further strengthening the company’s commitment to service quality.

But it has not been all plain sailing, as co-founder and director Dave McCready comments on the early days of the company.

He said: “Looking back at some of the challenges we encountered, the most notable was that iO was only six months old when the Covid lockdown came into force, and we were very early in our development journey.

"But thanks to the fantastic support of the local business community and strong word of mouth, we came through it well-positioned.”

Since those early days, iO has continued to hire more operational and business support staff, expanded into the internet connectivity and telecoms market and in the last year has re-signed over £150,000 of business and achieved a further £150,000 new revenue.

And best of all, iO has now joined the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce.

Co-founder and director Nick Pickering remarks on the previous year’s growth: “This past year has been incredible, with increased turnover reflecting not just growth but the dedication of our team and the fantastic support of our customers.

"Joining the Chamber of Commerce is a natural and welcome progression for iO as we continue to expand and develop.”
