Delegates from across the oil and gas industry are being invited to learn about the current state of the subsea industry and what the future might look like at a networking event with Scottish Enterprise (SE).
Taking place on the first day of Subsea Expo on Tuesday 5 February, the ‘Scottish Enterprise Business Breakfast’, will provide guests with a networking opportunity whilst demonstrate the growing number of subsea opportunities for Scottish companies.
The event will provide an insight into how Scottish Enterprise is continuing to support the subsea sector, one of Scotland’s global strengths, as well as hear from a number of companies on the importance of diversification and internationalisation in helping to grow a business.
David Halliday of Roemex Ltd will also deliver a presentation on doing business in Norway, and Ann Johnson from Blaze Manufacturing Solutions Ltd will explore the current and future diversification opportunities for subsea companies.
Subsea UK’s business activity review, which was published in 2017 revealed that 80% of large companies and 65% of SMEs believe that their exports will grow over the next three years. Scottish Enterprise and Subsea UK will be on-hand at the breakfast to provide guidance on how delegates can take advantage of future growth opportunities and be a part of Scotland’s subsea success story.
David Rennie, head of oil and gas at Scottish Enterprise, said: “Subsea is one of the most important sectors for Scotland and the expertise developed in oil and gas industry is now being increasingly utilised across other sectors. The event will set out how we are supporting the industry to drive further growth as well as hear from companies which have benefitted from internationalisation and diversification.”
Chief executive of Subsea UK, Neil Gordon, added: “Last year the oil and gas industry turned a corner and we saw an increase in the number exports, clearly demonstrating that confidence has returned. We’re encouraging representatives from organisations across the region to register their attendance and take advantage of the insights and support on offer from Scottish Enterprise.”
