Peterson staff raise money for two local charities
Leading international energy logistics provider Peterson has donated £20,000 to two local charities that provide support to thousands of people across the north of Scotland.
Maggie’s and Mental Health Aberdeen, who each received a donation of £10,000, were selected by employees of the company as charities for 2018. Both organisations were selected based on Peterson employees having direct experience of the issues these causes support.
Staff in Aberdeen and surrounding offices came together to raise £20,000 through various fundraising events throughout the year with most of the funds being raised at the annual Christmas party, with Peterson’s support.
Different charities are selected each year for the Aberdeen and surrounding offices and a total of £60,000 has been raised through a variety of fundraising events over the past three years through this scheme. In addition to this, other regional offices donate to charities active in their local communities including Shetland where £4,500 was raised for NHS Shetland endowment fund to raise funds for an MRI scanner in Shetland.
These fundraising schemes are part of our wider ‘Dare to Care’ initiative to benefit the communities we work in.

These charities were chosen as they deal with issues close to the team’s heart, with some of the staff having experienced support from both of them in the past.

Maggie’s offers free practical and emotional support for all people living with cancer, and their family and friends. Built in the grounds of specialist NHS cancer hospitals, including Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Maggie’s Centres are warm and welcoming places, with qualified professionals on hand to support people with cancer and their loved ones.
Mental Health Aberdeen helps young people and adults experiencing difficulties with their mental health through free counselling session throughout Aberdeen and rural Aberdeenshire to support individuals' wellbeing through very challenging situations.
Aberdeen Foyer and Care + Repair have been chosen as the charities Peterson will be supporting in 2019.
