Integrity HSE’s operations director Darrell Lines was invited by one of the company's clients to deliver a keynote speech at a global summit in Qatar last week.
The summit was attended by the leaders of some of the world’s most successful energy companies, and it was Darrell’s job to engage them with an opening presentation on Human Factors (HF).
When on stage, Darrell drew on applied practice from sport psychology, using worked examples from FC Barcelona, Liverpool Football Club, Real Madrid C.F., Al-Sadd, and Newcastle United Football Club. He also talked about performance influencing factors, and the critical role they play in business success (Apple), and failures (Blockbuster).
Darrell Lines said: “It was great bringing everything to life with examples from sport, and really satisfying to land the important messages by reverse engineering the role of Human Factors in tragic incidents, from Piper Alpha to Exxon Valdez and Mumbai High.”
Darrell went on to say he enjoyed breaking from the norm and splitting delegates into workgroups, each of which received a challenging scenario.
