The inspirational story behind an Aberdeen woman’s experience with cancer will be the focal point of a leading north-east charity’s annual lunch event in April.
Theresa Rollo will speak at CLAN Cancer Support’s annual fundraising lunch which is set to take place at Ardoe House Hotel and Spa on Wednesday, April 20.
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, Theresa turned to CLAN for support during this challenging period in her life, with a number of the charity’s services including its visualisation and relaxation sessions proving of great benefit to her.
At the lunch, which is again supported this year by BP, she will share some of her thoughts on her journey from throughout the last 10 years as well as how she has tried to give something back to the charity that helped her, completing a range of events in support of CLAN including the charity’s own Landmark Walk and the London Marathon.
Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, is looking forward to welcoming Theresa to what is one of the charity’s most important awareness and fund raisers of the year
She said: “I’ve known Theresa for a number of years and I feel honoured to also know her inspirational story; to witness firsthand the effort and support she has given back to CLAN through her various fundraising challenges over the years has been amazing.
“The lunch itself has been an integral part of our fundraising calendar of events for some time now and every year we benefit from having inspirational talkers stand up and share their story. To have this level of insight into the charity from those who have received support from us directly is fantastic and I can’t thank Theresa enough for offering up her time to talk to the attendees. It’s an incredibly noble act and we’re delighted she’ll be able to join us on the day.”
Tickets for the CLAN Lunch are already on-sale and are available individually or as tables of 10. Guests will be treated to a two course lunch, raffle and auction alongside a host of shopping stalls perfect for picking up gifts, accessories and items of clothing.
Last year’s event helped raise over £10,000 for the charity with generous individuals from across the North-east coming together in support of the much-loved cancer support charity.
Susan added: “The support we’ve had from members of the public to the lunch has always been strong and we’d be delighted to welcome you along in April to this year’s event. Tickets are priced at £32 with a table of 10 package also available to those interested.
“Thanks to BP’s generous continued support of the event, all funds raised from the day will go towards the charity’s provision of free support services to anyone affected by cancer throughout the north-east of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland. Without people’s continued support of CLAN, this provision just simply wouldn’t be possible.”
