Industry leaders are currently inspiring students and alumni from all over the world as part of Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) 10th MBA Leadership Week.
Industry experts, current students and previous students from RGU’s MBA cohort come together from over 50 countries once a year at Aberdeen Business School to embrace leadership and to participate in academia and practical workshops, team-building exercises and leadership simulation games.
Full-time, part-time and distance learning cohorts for both the MBA and MBA Oil & Gas Management degrees have descended on the Garthdee campus to learn from some of the experts in the industry.
Guest speakers include Sir Ian Wood, who presents the Wood Foundation Leadership Lecture; Andy Hessell, managing director of CATS Management Limited; Joyce Duncan, chief executive of AVCO TSI; Deidre Michie, chief executive of Oil and Gas UK and Gretchen Watkins, COO Maersk.
Bryan McNay, Acting MBA director, said: "Leadership week is designed to bring together RGU's MBA students and immerse them in the fundamentals of leadership and the challenges that leaders face.
"Scotland has a rich history of producing innovative and successful entrepreneurs who have made an impact on a global stage. Aberdeen Business School understands the importance of investing in future Scottish business leaders and leadership week will act as a genuine learning experience for the students and entrepreneurs taking part, and potentially facilitate new and profitable business relationships."
Dean of Aberdeen Business School Professor Rita Marcella said: "MBA Leadership Week at Aberdeen Business School has been running since 2006. It's an excellent opportunity for students from across the MBA programme to network, learn and share their experiences, as well as develop a different aspect of leadership skills.
"The ethos of the university is to provide and share real life experiences for our students so they are as well-equipped as possible and RGU does that through bringing industry in to events such as Leadership week.
"To be able to give students access to people of such a high calibre as this year's guests and to that degree of experience and success is just outstanding."
MBA Leadership Week activities include a business simulation game which is a virtual imitation of real life business venture where students work as teams competing against each other and a Leadership, skills and development training session, as well as the series of industry guest speakers.
The week event culminates in an Energy Management Dinner which celebrates the success of MBA students with industry guests.
