An Aberdeen based financial services company is pledging its support to a prestigious bowling club competition taking place this summer.
Phil Anderson Financial Services, which was established in 2011 and has offices in Aberdeen, Ellon and Caithness, has signed a three-year contract with the Whitehall Bowling Club to help support the Whitehall Invitation Pairs Tournament.
The financial firm, which specialises in mortgages, insurance, investments and pensions, has agreed to be the main sponsor of the prestigious tournament, pledging £4,500 to the event which is in its 42nd year.
The competition, which attracts international and national players from across the UK, will take place throughout July and August. The ladies qualifying stage will kick-start the competition on Sunday, July 26 2015, and the gents qualifying stage from Tuesday 4 to Thursday 6 August, with the finals taking place on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 August, which will see Scottish Internationalists competing against the local qualifiers.
International pairings representing Scotland at this year’s Whitehall Pairs Tournament includes Commonwealth gold medalists Darren Burnett, David Peacock and Neil Spears.
Phil Anderson, managing director of Phil Anderson Financial services, said: “I am delighted to be supporting this prestigious competition, and look forward to seeing how the teams get on. This is a huge date in the annual bowling calendar and the competition is always very highly attended.
“I’ve played at this club a number of times and I have always enjoyed my time there, I wish all of the participants the best of luck and hope that our donation is of great use to the club.”
Whitehall Bowling Club president, secretary and tournament secretary, Grace Whitley, added: “Nowadays it is much harder to secure financial support for these types of competitions, however, thanks to Phil Anderson Financial Services the tournament now has a main sponsor for the next three years, which is extremely reassuring.
“This sponsorship does not only give us a major boost for the tournament, but will also help contribute towards the prizes and general running costs. Phil is one of our former members which makes this sponsorship that little bit more special.”
