Increased demand at Thainstone’s plant, machinery, and equipment sale

The North’s largest plant, machinery, and equipment sale – with 86% of the 3,724 lots sold – attracted more than 2,000 bidders, including a variety of buyers from across the UK and Ireland flocking to Thainstone Centre at the weekend.

With online bidding also featuring strongly within the plant, vehicles and lorries sections with online buyers from throughout the UK and Europe showing interest.

The top price of the day was achieved in the heavy commercials category and came from a 2014 Stokota 44600 litre fuel tanker which sold for £31,000. The tractor and plant section was led by a 2008 Aebi TT2240 tractor verge mower which was purchased for £23,000; and a 2013 Zetor Forterra HSX110 c/w loader which achieved £20,800. In the 4x4 section, a 2013 Land Rover Defender double cab pickup sold for £20,500; while the trailer’s, caravans, and containers category was topped by a 2005 Andover 4-axle extender low loader which realised £13,000.

Mark Barrack, Head of Specialist Auctions at ANM Group, said: “We are very pleased with the fantastic results achieved at our final sale of the year and the effort put in by our team – which works with and for the buyer and seller to achieve true value of goods by implementing the competitive price discovery method of an auction. The sale continues to attract large crowds of local, national and international bidders to Thainstone Centre, with our online bidding system growing in popularity as more buyers participate in the event using their mobile devices or personal computers.

“Strong demand for exports was evident on the day as international buyers took advantage of favourable exchange rates, particularly in the farm machinery and mobile plant equipment sections. The light commercials and 4x4s category also proved popular with more than 200 lots entered, an increase of 25% in entries from the September sale, which saw Land Rover Defenders achieving strong prices due to Land Rover discontinuing this line of vehicles.”

The next plant, machinery, and equipment sale – which takes place eight times a year – is scheduled for Saturday 21st January 2017 from 9:00am at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie and consignors are encouraged to advise of their entries as soon as possible to receive maximum exposure to potential buyers.
