Lord Cameron has not been named in Rishi Sunak's interim shadow cabinet.

Mr Sunak was forced to shuffle the pack after 12 members of his top team lost their seats at last week's General Election, though a number of briefs remain unchanged.

Jeremy Hunt is the new shadow chancellor, while James Cleverly is the shadow home secretary, both mirroring roles they held previously.

Continuing the trend, Oliver Dowden is deputy leader of the opposition, Victoria Atkins is shadow health secretary and Claire Coutinho is shadow secretary of state for energy security and net zero.

The biggest change comes in the shadow foreign office though, where Lord Cameron was surprisingly leading as foreign secretary last year.

The former PM was unable to face his opposite number in the Commons due to being a peer in the House of Lords.

Writing on social media, Lord Cameron said his party in opposition "will need to shadow the new foreign secretary from the Commons".

He added: "As a committed Conservative I will continue to support the party and help where I can as we rebuild from the very disappointing election result."

Andrew Mitchell has been named as the new shadow foreign secretary.

Other changes include Kemi Badenoch - a woman tipped to be Mr Sunak's successor - moving to shadow secretary for levelling up, housing and communities.

Meanwhile, West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine MP Andrew Bowie has been named as shadow veterans minister.
