Aberdeen ice cream parlour Mackie’s 19.2 is celebrating Mother’s Day with the launch of a limited run of “ice cream cupcakes”.

Available as a box of four, each will come with two white chocolate and raspberry and a further two blueberry. Each cupcake is made up of Mackie’s delicious ice cream on a biscuit base, topped with semifreddo (semi-frozen mousse) and fresh fruit and sauce toppings.

These delightful new desserts are the brainchild of Mackie’s newly recruited product development coordinator, Hannah Beattie, 25, who landed her dream role after recently graduating from nearby Robert Gordon University.

The manager at the Marischal Square-based parlour, Yvette Harrison, predicts sweet success for the cupcakes.

She said: “The cupcakes look beautiful and taste fantastic. We are sure that mums will be thrilled to receive them.”

A box of four cupcakes – two of each flavour – will cost £15 and should be pre-ordered by directly messaging Mackie’s 19.2 on Facebook. They will be available to pick up from March 22 at Mackie’s 19.2 Marischal Square parlour in Aberdeen.

Opened in 2017, Mackie’s 19.2 name reflects the distance in kilometres to the Mackie’s family farm and factory in Westertown where it makes its ice cream and chocolate.

The popular parlour frequently experiments with new flavours and products. Over the years this has included the launch of the UK’s first ever-flowing Biscoff tap, plus the creation of pine needle ice cream, haggis and marmalade ice cream and various locally-inspired flavours, such as buttery and jam.
