A leading charity is has announced its calendar of activities for 2016, to raise money for blind and deaf people in the North-east.
North East Sensory Services (NESS) which has centres in Aberdeen, Dundee and Elgin, relies upon fund-raising to support many of the life-enhancing facilities it provides.
This year’s calendar kicks off on the March 5 at the Marcliffe Hotel & Spa, with the charity’s main fundraising event, the NESS Rio Spring Ball. The ball will feature dancing and the Guarana Street Band to add to the carnival theme. The annual event raised over £20,000 in 2015, which supported activities such as the young person’s sensory services, helping children from 0-18 learn how to enjoy life despite their disability.
In Moray, NESS will hold a further ball on March 19 and the Cullen Bay Hotel, featuring music from local band Traffik.
May sees the return of the popular Adam Night Comedy Hypnosis Show. An evening of outrageous hypnosis will take place at the Laich Moray Hotel in Elgin on May 6 and at the Station Hotel, Aberdeen on May 7.
Friday, May 13 will be lucky for some at the Hall Morrice Quiz, which raises funds for NESS every year at the Aberdeen Asset Management suite at Pittodrie stadium.
As the summer gets underway, NESS supporters will be out and about testing their fitness and raising vital money for the charity. The Glen Moray Bike Ride is taking place on June 26, with three routes including a challenging 75 miles sportive, a 25 mile easy route and a family friendly 10 mile option. And cycling sportive lovers will again take to their bikes on 27-28 August as part of Ride the North. NESS has charity places available for the event, which sees riders cycle between Rhynie and Inverness.
