The number of hospitality units in Aberdeen city centre has overtaken the number of retail offerings, according to the Press & Journal's high street tracker.

Across the likes of Union Street, Belmont Street and Schoolhill, as well as the city's various shopping centres, there is 112 hospitality units.

This trumps the number of retail units by five.

Since the launch of the tracker last June, every shopping centre in the city has seen a fall in vacant units. Union Square is the most occupied, with more than 95% of units currently in use, while nearly a third of the Trinity Centre remains empty, though this is an improvement on June and November's figures.

Union Street has seen a reduction in empty units since June 2023, with nearly 80% now in use. Upperkirkgate and Thistle Street are also busier than they were eight months ago, while there's been no change on George Street, Chapel Street or Back Wynd.

Little Belmont Street remains the only area that is completely full.
